Incident Response?

Definition:

Incident response (IR) refers to the process of identifying, analysing, containing, combating and recovering from a cyber incident or security attack. The aim of incident response is to minimise the damage caused by the incident, determine the cause of the attack and restore the affected systems as quickly as possible. A structured incident response plan includes defined procedures, responsibilities and tools that are activated during an incident in order to respond efficiently and in a coordinated manner. Technologies such as forensic tools, endpoint detection and response (EDR) and security information and event management (SIEM) are used to analyse the threat and enable rapid remediation. The incident response phase often ends with a comprehensive follow-up to prevent the incident from recurring and to improve the security situation in the long term.
